Renee began her education in office administration before discovering a passion for psychology, which helped her understand and heal herself and empower others to become their most authentic selves.
In 2006, she founded Hansen and Associates to support counselors in building independent, confident, and professional careers. Watching the practice grow and the impact on clients has been one of her greatest honors.
Renee found a renewed passion in the advancement of brainspotting as an effective approach for healing trauma, anxiety, and depression. She is inspired by the fact that the body holds memory as well as the mind, and she finds deep fulfillment in witnessing meaningful transformation in her clients.
Raised on a farm in North Dakota, Renee earned her degrees in South Dakota and later moved to Wyoming with plans to pursue a Ph.D. She chose instead to focus on practicing with her master’s degree, while also teaching at universities, hosting a radio show, and mentoring others in the field.
As she transitions into retirement, Renee is traveling more and embracing new adventures, including studying with Shamans in the Amazon. She believes life is full of purpose and meaning, and that each person defines their own purpose.
“Life is full of purpose and meaning… It is up to us what kind of purpose and meaning we give it.”
